Lessons for singers of all levels and ages are available. In lessons, we work to develop healthy vocal technique that will translate into any style of singing. For every age, basic vocal anatomy is discussed. Understanding the voice as an instrument will help to perfect our skill in using it.
Piano lessons for beginning to intermediate students vary from student to student, based on the goals we establish on day one. In every lesson, students become familiar with counting, playing scales, and reading music. These skills are necessary in every style of playing. Method books are always used to establish a track for covering all basics of piano technique. Depending on the level of dedication and interest, music outside of method books will be selected. Students are required to bring lesson, technic and theory books to their lessons. Method books are chosen based on the age and learning style of each student.
Theory lessons outside of piano are available, and highly recommended for those students will a strong interest in music. Though basic theory is included in method books, the advanced theory skills needed for composers will not be met by method books. Approach to theory lessons is catered to the students age and ability.
A feeling of accomplishment is so important in the longevity of lessons. Practice outside of lessons is a necessary component to that feeling of accomplishment. For students who appreciate a reward system, a prize bag is brought to lessons every two weeks. If the student shows consistent focus during lessons, and progress from week to week, they may select a prize from the bag. I find this incentive is very effective in keeping the kids engaged in the tedious technique work that piano requires from time to time.
Practice expectations vary for each student. As other activities may take a lot of time out of the week, I try to find a practice schedule that will maximize the progress with the reasonable time available. The more you practice, and the more efficiently you practice, the more progress you will see. Part of lessons in mapping out a schedule for practice, and how to practice. This is an important detail missed in many lessons. Making practice regimented, enjoyable, and attainable is crucial to successful lessons. Bringing a recording device to voice lessons is highly recommended, as it makes practicing much easier.

Recitals are held bi-yearly and are optional for students, though highly recommended. Location of recital will vary. Students are encouraged to bring snacks and beverages for a reception following the recital. Performance is a great opportunity for the student to share their progress with friends and family!
Each student has individual needs and unique learning abilities. As a lesson teacher, it is always my first priority to assess the comfort level of the student and tailor the lesson them as an individual.
